FLIPANY is disrupting the way health and wellness support is offered to communities that have been historically ignored. We serve nutritious food, encourage healthy eating and get people to move, but our work is so much more: We “sit at the table” with families and kids, and work tirelessly to inspire them to transform their lives with healthy meals and consistent physical activity. Partners seek our support again and again because of our relentless drive to find out-of-the-box initiatives that will ensure equitable access to healthy living for everyone.
The purpose and passion at FLIPANY are directly linked to our founder, Lynne Kunins, who was determined to help others based on her own story of overcoming addiction, poverty, hunger, and attempted suicide with physical fitness and enhanced nutrition.
Using a community-based service approach to reach participants where they are-FLIPANY provides local organizations with custom designed opportunities to enhance their existing services.
FLIPANY works hand-in-hand with these local organizations, and the populations they serve, to evaluate need, design evidence-based solutions and implement change. These value-added individual or group-based wellness solutions include direct nutrition education, physical activity programming, health promotion, and intervention strategies. This programming is provided on-site at locations such as early childcare centers, schools, community centers, parks and recreation programs, medical centers and other partner sites throughout the community.
Underlying the immediate causes of health disparities, inadequate supportive legislation, weak sector collaborations, poor health and nutrition infrastructure, and inadequate community participation and engagement,
among other sall play a role. These are critical challenges that need to be addressed through an inter-sectoral approach guided by sector-specific roles and commitments with measurable indicators. FLIPANY’s health and wellness advocacy initiatives work to affect change within institutional systems and structures,as well as people’s attitudes, to reduce health disparities and address social determinants of health related to nutrition, physical activity, health literacy and food security. This advocacy includes implementing short-term activities and interventions to influence local, county and state policy and build sustainable solutions for long-term improvements.
Nutrition education is an evidence-based,cost-effective way to improve health outcomes and foster healthy eating habits for a lifetime. Utilizing evidence-based strategies and curriculum,
FLIPANY custom designs nutrition education and wellness programing to meet the needs of organizations across multiple sectors of the community. From children to seniors and employers to community outreach organizations, FLIPANY works within the existing framework of partner organizations to provide meaningful educational programming that is engaging and makes a measurable and impactful difference on the populations served.
FLIPANY’s healthy meals and food security initiatives are focused on uniting food system stakeholders and the local community to take an active role in advancing health equity through healthy nutrition,
increased awareness and access to healthy food in local communities. FLIPANY is Recognized by the State of Florida as an award-winning Tier III unaffiliated Food Sponsor and distributes (SOME MEASURE OF VOLUME) healthy meals to the community at over 450 partner sites through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). In collaboration with food system stakeholders, such as local non-profits focused on food distribution, FLIPANY helps coordinate resources and activities between existing efforts, provides logistical support, assists in identifying and addressing resource gaps in food commodities available, and assists in food collection/distribution resulting in a systematic unified community food system and increased access to healthy food in local communities.
As a results-driven organization, FLIPANY relies on programmatic and organizational evaluation to collect information about initiatives and activities to improve effectiveness, make decisions, demonstrate impact and drive change.
